Amid unsettled debates and discussions surrounding which court has original jurisdiction of disputes in the capital markets, the Supreme Court has decisively ended any further speculations by confirming the Investments and Securities Tribunal's (the “IST”) jurisdiction. The Supreme Court's decision clarified the IST's original jurisdiction for capital markets disputes, offering a clear path for legal navigation for stakeholders. This has helped clear much of the fog shrouding the discourse about the role of the IST in capital markets. Moreover, by settling this legal quagmire, the Supreme Court has put to rest the confusion and uncertainty that had gripped the investment and securities industry. The Apex court has essentially offered a roadmap for addressing capital markets disputes, a stabilising beacon amid the chaotic waters of the financial world.
