Publication: Two Ambiguities in the Franchising Regulation Bill, 2022: The "Franchisor's Associate" and "Similar Businesses" Provisions
In January 2023, the Franchising Regulation Bill, 2022 was passed by the Senate to establish a framework for the regulation of Franchising in Nigeria. This is the first legislative attempt at regulating franchising in Nigeria. While this is a laudable attempt, a thorough perusal of the bill exposes certain ambiguous provisions that may be setbacks to the proper implementation of the Bill.
